A complete 6-Chapter, 17 lesson course to teach you how to animate weapons and characters for a first-person shooter game…with killer robots 🤖
💥 Let’s have a blast with Blender weapon animations💥
Learn how to animate all the actions needed for a Blender 2.8 game – from quick, SIMPLE ones (like your robot just standing around) to COMPLEX pro-level actions like reloading and transforming the rifle…into a freakin’ cool sniper!
💥 Making your FPS Game Responsive 💥
We want to use as few animation frames as possible to keep things responsive for the game player. And the whole process doesn’t take as long as you might think. We just need to make sure the frames we do use are the right ones!
💥 Along the way, you’ll become a pro at…💥
– working with actions in Blender’s NLA editor and action editor
– working with curves
– structuring your linked files
– exporting animations to Unity…and a whole lot more.
💥 Get the Skills to Make any Type of First-Person Shooter Game 💥
The hands and arms are all that your players see of your character, so it’s important to make those few frames expressive and interesting.
At the same time, they shouldn’t be distracting from what your character is doing in the game.
I’ll be going over the do’s and don’ts of first-person game animation as we go along so you’ll be prepared to take these skills and transfer them to any other type of FPS game, or any other 3D animation app for that matter.
The full animation course has 5+1 action-packed chapters:
🤖 #1 (FREE Chapter) – Introduction to the Robot and Rifle Rigs
🤖 #2 Animating Main Actions – starting with 5 simple animations, like the robot’s poses and the rifle animations
🤖 #3 Animating Rifle Reload – these are complex animations with switching constraints to give our robot some character
🤖 #4 Animating Secondary Actions – running, jumping and all the other actions needed for a FPS game
🤖 #5 Exporting to Unity (or Any Other Game Engine) – let’s bake the actions, remove constraints, and export everything to a game engine using FBX
🤖 #6 (Quiz time!) – let’s test your skills and apply what you’ve learned to a brand new model

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! Awesome job it's well presented, show's clearly what it will teach you and what it won't, that's really some great stuff here! Being a programmer (and a really bad artist) I always stick to the programming side of a project. Maybe this is changing my mind now..

does this tutorial course include info on how to keep legs visible when in first person? I'm using UE4 and I want classic FPP but with the "true first-person" effect of being able to look down and see your body/legs.

I’m super interested in trying this out! I’ve been really wanting to learn first person animating lately, but I’ve been in school learning body mechanics and acting for the last year, so once I’m done in September, I’ll be looking for this again!

Ohhhh man this looks so good cant wait to see it. However are you guys covering process of scoping? Like when you are looking inside the sniper scope for example and then how to get that smooth transiton back to looking at outside the weapon? That always seemed really complicated to me.

I have zero interest in fps shooter gaming, but the intro alone shows the potential. I think i will buy it and apply it to other first person animation projects.

It is time. Damn, I just got in the 26 minutes video and learned some good stuff. I had my ways to handle Blender by myself without any tutorial or anything in the game I'm developing with my team. Seeing some of it just cleared some foggy path in my workflow, thanks I just subscribed to CGCookie right now.

I hope these CG Cookie takes a more simple approach. I remember watching the Substance Painter to Blender course and the instructor do that AO map exploded models. You have to do so much just to generate the AO map. That feels so unnecessary.

2.8 is a savior ^^ They made a great redactor, I would add only a few things like 3 step autosaving. Some of the addons is already listed to buy. Didn't tested the rig yet, but redactor is fast co pare to slow Max and Maya
